STEPS Center for Excellence in Autism

The STEPS Center has been developed to meet the needs of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders in a center-based program. The program supports children from ages 3-12 and addresses skills such as communication, fine and gross motor, social and play, receptive and expressive language, imitation, small and large group responding, and conversation. In addition, behavior reduction programs will be designed to decrease maladaptive behaviors and to increase functional behaviors.

Your child will receive quality services that are individualized to meet their needs. The STEPS Center offers:

  • 1:1 Teacher to student ratio.
  • A completed Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS) with a summary of recommendations reviewed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • A tri-level approach to assist students in reaching increased independence. Level classification is identified based upon presenting skill levels of the ABLLS assessement.
  • 1:1 instruction is provided to each student in multiple ways, including intensive teaching sessions.
  • Teaching methods and interventions utilized at STEPS center are supported in research.
  • Strong emphasis on natural environment training to assist your child in successful generalization and to encourage incidental learning.
  • Monthly workshops at the center in which parents, consultants and any outside service providers involved can participate in to ensure ongoing success of students.
  • Committed and experienced professionals dedicated to supporting persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
  • All programs are overseen by Board Certified Behavioral Analysts.
